Back in October 2016, the 5th to be precise, The Rotary Club of Wokingham held one of its main annual fund raising events at the prestigious Bearwood Lakes Golf Club – www.bearwoodlakes.co.uk
Each of the 17 teams paid £550 for a full day of golf, meals and entertainment. Aaron James was the compere and auctioneer and as those of you who have seen him perform will know, by the end of the evening everyone’s ribs were aching through laughter!
Following the recent passing of one of our Member’s wives, it was agreed the primary beneficiary of the event would be Pancreatic Cancer UK – http://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk – and at the dinner Debbie Wells from the Charity spoke passionately about this little known form of cancer; that is until Steve Jobs of Apple succumbed.
Thanks to the generosity of those who took part bidding for auction prizes, Pancreatic Cancer UK received a donation of £5,000 with the balance of funds being awarded to other local charities and worthy causes.
