The Rotary "Youth Speaks" Inter-Schools Competition

Rotary has been running its Youth Speaks Competition for 25 years so some of the original pupils will now be in their 40’s.

Once a year, we encourage local schools to enter teams of three in the Intermediate Section for 12 – under 14 and the Senior Section for 14 – 17 year olds.

There is a Chairperson, a Speaker and a Proposer of a Vote of Thanks. The pupils choose their subject and write and learn their speeches. Nerves come into the event, not many 12 year olds have stood before an unknown audience of pupils from other schools, parents and teachers.

This year, Yateley Manor School’s very young team won the Intermediate Section and Sandhurst School won the Senior Section.

Local schools host the event and this year we were guests of Luckley House School.
